Marriage & Cohabitation
We can help you and your partner create a marriage contract or cohabitation agreement.  We typically recommend that couples use mediation or the collaborative process which are better suited to supporting your ongoing relationship while also protecting your interests as individuals. We can also assist you with a Foreign Divorce Opinion Letter. 
Will Drafting & Estates
We have a certified Trusts and Estates Professional on our team! Tina Garbas-Tyrell will walk you through all the issues that you should consider in making a will and powers of attorney to protect your loved ones and your wealth. If you have been appointed to act as estate administrator for someone else, Tina can help with that, too.  ​

COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE PROCESS

The Collaborative Process is an innovative approach for separating couples to arrive at a separation agreement by working together, with professional support, including non-adversarial lawyers, to make a plan for their family’s future.  

MEDIATION

Mediation is a facilitated negotiation process, where a neutral third party (the mediator) assists you and your spouse to reach an agreement. The mediator does not make a decision.  You can terminate the process at any time. Mediation is confidential.  When a settlement is reached, it only becomes binding when you sign a formal written agreement. It is strongly recommended that each of you have independent legal advice.  Your lawyer can attend mediation with you or can advise you from the sidelines. 

LEGAL REPRESENTATION & COACHING 

We strive to help you in the ways that you need.  For example, you can hire one of our lawyers to take full carriage of your file, taking responsibility for the handling of your case and every aspect of it.  Or, you can choose to hire one of our lawyers to help you with just one slice (or discrete part) of your case, while you carry the ultimate responsibility for managing your own file.  This is sometimes also called "unbundled services" or "coaching" services.  In a coaching model, we could advise you behind the scenes as you move forward with your matter.  Sometimes, clients are involved in mediation (where the mediator cannot give legal advice) so they come to us to advise them as go through the mediation process.  Other times, clients want support while they represent themselves in court.  These are just two examples, but the arrangements can take many forms and can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual client.   In short, we offer you choices.  At your initial consult, you will discuss how to best structure the lawyer-client relationship to meet your needs. ​
